Adjusting from the Provincial life to the City Life
By Catherine Vitug
A lot of you may relate with this article because of the experiences you might have encountered from living in the province into moving in the city, INDEPENDENTLY, for college, and for a brighter future.
Here we takle the perks and the disadvantages of living alone in the big city…
-
INDEPENDENCE
Here is an advantage of living away from your family that will surely make you learn. By living alone means learning the value of independence on where you have no nanny or mommy to cook for your meals and daddy or driver who will fetch you and pick you up from school. It will definitely help you prepare for your future in a way that it will make you learn how to cook by yourself when you’re hungry, or walk or go to school, via public transport, all by yourself, so it wouldn’t be hard for you when the time comes on where you will already permanently need to separate from your parents.
-
HOMESICKNESS
Sad as it may sound to be, but yes, you will experience a great amount of homesickness especially when you’re just all alone and thinking a lot of things. But mind you, this feeling just may be at the start, because eventually you’ll definitely get used to it especially with the company of your friends or schoolmates.
-
TOO MUCH FREEDOM
TOO MUCH that you will have to know how to control yourself especially with the college dilemma of drinking, smoking, or even doing drugs. Religious as it may get, but you should never forget to ask for God’s guidance when it comes to these things, because with proper faith and principles, you will never get in the wrong way.
-
LEARNING TO BE RESPONSIBLE
By learning to be responsible means learning how to balance your time between studies and leisure. College is very different and way harder from high school, so your high school habits should definitely be changed. You need to have more time designated for your academic requirements than Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
-
WAKING UP WITHOUT MOMMY DOING IT :(
Sadly…so snoozing your alarm is a need :)
-
MAKING TIPID
Making tipid does not necessarily mean making tipid because your money is not enough but, making tipid in way that there is too much temptation for food and stuff that you have to resist and even feel “panghihinayang” because mommy or daddy is not the one buying it for you.
-
CULTURE SHOCK
From the provincial life to the city life? You quite already know the difference and it is definitely understood. UGH! I hate traffic and pollution!
